This classic summit hike leads to the remnants of a volcanic plug, ‘the Ears,’ and offers sweeping views of Whiteley Peak and the Zirkel Wilderness. The trail starts in a wildflower-filled meadow and climbs steadily, ending in a short rock scramble.

This scenic out-and-back trail takes you through open meadows and quiet aspen groves, with stunning views along the ridge. It’s especially beautiful during wildflower season or when the aspens turn golden in fall.

A short, scenic loop through the woods. Great for families and beginner hikers. The trail starts at Thunderhead Lodge, which you can reach via the gondola or Thunderhead Express lift.

This high-elevation trail winds along the backside of Mt. Werner (Steamboat Ski Mountain), leading you through dense spruce-fir forests and open meadows to alpine Long Lake. It’s a stunning, challenging hike best suited for experienced adventurers.

This popular trail leads to two stunning waterfalls just outside Steamboat. The Lower Falls overlook is wheelchair and stroller-friendly. Continue past it for a more challenging, rocky climb to the Upper Fall and Long Lake. Shady and scenic the whole way.

A high-alpine classic. This advanced 26-mile ride drops 4,400 feet from Rabbit Ears Pass into the Steamboat Ski Area. Expect roots, rocks, fast forest sections and big mountain views. Best done as a shuttle.

Climb from Basecamp to the summit of Rabbit Ears Pass. It’s a steady, scenic workout with a wide shoulder and stunning views. Best early in the morning or evening when traffic is light.

A USA BMX-sanctioned track. Open to all ages with beginner-friendly options.

Start in downtown Steamboat with a local guide. Cruise old town streets, learn history, spot wildlife, and grab great photos along the way.

Scenic alpine lake near the top of Rabbit Ears Pass. Stocked trout. Easy to access, especially good for a calm morning cast.

More off the beaten path. Small, peaceful, and lightly trafficked. Great spot to escape the crowds with a spinning rod or fly setup.

A big, easy-access lake popular for trout and kokanee. Boat ramp, swim beach and ice fishing in winter.

A gold medal section of river known for wild trout. Wade or float fishing available.

Known for its trophy trout, especially below Stagecoach Reservoir. Excellent fly fishing year-round.

A peaceful spot for paddle boarding, kayaking, fishing and boating. There’s a swim beach, boat ramp, picnic areas, and plenty of open shoreline.

Float through town on a tube in the heart of summer. Conditions vary depending on water levels, usually open mid-June through August. Start near Fetcher Park and exit near the library or Transit Center.

Basecamp is just down the road from one of Colorado’s top snowmobiling areas. Groomed trails and deep powder are easily accessed from the Dumont and Muddy Creek parking lots.
Please note: riding directly from the property is not allowed, but you are welcome to park your trailer at Basecamp.
